Elizabeth Wilson, CIO, Department of Education and Training (VIC)

Elizabeth is a leader of transformational change with experience working with executive groups and building high performing teams.  She is an innovative leader in applying technology as a transformation agent for business change and is passionate about gender diversity in technology and a focus of technology to provide equity, particularly in education and health.
In her current role as CIO at the Department of Education and Training, Victoria, Elizabeth has initiated a transformation program to uplift the Department’s technology capability to support new digital teaching and learning environments.  Elizabeth has worked across many industries including higher education, transport, manufacturing and facilities management and has represented her region on the AARNet Advisory Committee and as President of the Council of Australian Directors of IT (CAUDIT).

Individualised learning and evidence-based pursuit of improvement in the era of Gonski and the digital classroom requires new approaches to the capture, management and use of education data. The panel will discuss the strategies in Australia and overseas to: 
  • Mobilise of education data to support learners, educators and decision makers
  • Enable a learner-centric approach to information management across products and organisations
  • Support innovative use of technology to capture data and provide insights into learner needs and progress
  • Maintain learner privacy and trust in data transactions
